Trail Blazers x PSAA Street Art
PORTLAND, OREGON
PSAA is teaming up with the Portland Trail Blazers to create amazing art across Portland. This production is the first in a series of street art installations that will pop up across Portland this Spring.
RIP CITY ROAR
7 NE Oregon Street at the Steel Bridgehead, Portland Oregon
Located steps from the Moda Center, where you can almost hear the roar of the gameday crowd, is a new Portland Trail Blazers-themed graffiti art production titled Rip City Roar; the first of a series of collaborations between the Portland Trail Blazers and Portland Street Art Alliance. These productions are part of PSAA's unique Community Art Program, which provides space for creatives to let loose, play, and practice their styles.
Created by the dream team of They Drift, KSRA, and GIVER, the design evokes Portland's "Rip City" ethos. When asked about their approach, artist They Drift summed it up best: "This city doesn't whisper. It plays LOUD."
Spreading across six panels, Rip City Roar contains a mixture of character art and graphic lettering. The first panel features an impressive mashup of the Trail Blazers' logo and a rose, leading into some tight lettering by GIVER reading "Rip City."
The next two panels contain a popping piece by KSRA in crisp wildstyle letters atop a pair of roses. Ending this production with a bang is a slam-dunk portrait of Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard by They Drift.
