THE ART OF THE COCKTAIL

SPIRITS

PORTLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Last fall, Freeland Spirits partnered with PSAA to bring their bold, elegant brand to life at their brand-new tasting room inside Portland International Airport, and the result is stunning.

They tapped artist David Rice to create a series of murals featuring the botanicals, fruits, and spirits behind their beloved gin and whiskey. Titled “Spirits,” the work wraps around all three interior walls of the kiosk in a seamless, immersive bar feature that’s impossible to miss.

Spirits was meant to embody the spirit of Freeland. A celebration of life shared with loved ones, and our connection to our home
— David Rice, Muralist

David is known for his detailed, illustrative style, and this project is a showcase of his technical mastery. His rendering of liquids, glassware, and light creates an almost photorealistic depth that pulls you in. The transparency. The shadows. The fluidity. It’s truly impressive work!

Beyond the interior murals, David created two hand-painted portraits of a woman surrounded by blooms, holding a Freeland bottle. Those paintings were photographed and transformed into backlit installations on the kiosk exterior.
